Last week Friday October 21st, Terrace Park residents, city officials and Councilman Luis Viera met at the newly constructed 46th street roundabout.
The meeting was scheduled to discuss recent activities that raised concerns regarding the roundabout.
During the one-hour meeting, those in attendance had a front role seat to view those same concerns raised by residents.
From several 18-wheelers driving through the roundabout to a sedan running right over the roundabout.
What was learned:
Semis are NOT allowed to drive down 46th street
The roundabout is designed to allow small trailers hitched to vehicles
Roundabout points were identified:
Roundabout Signage in difficult to see areas for drivers
Street signs in bad location
Not enough awareness of roundabout
Suggested and discussed-Possible changes:
No Semi trucks signs to be installed on 46th
Flashing lights/signs before roundabout
Road signage of upcoming roundabout
Painting roundabout and center dividers city approved traffic colors of Yellow and Red
Possible center of roundabout to be raised higher
Relocation of street name signs
Relocation of roundabout signs to visible locations
We look forward to working with City of Tampa on improving this project for safety.
